Hand Painted Silk Scarf in soft rainbow colours - 100% Silk

Made exclusively for the Stained Glass Museum, textile artist Bernie Witchalls of The Silk Spinner's Studio has created a range of beautiful hand painted scarves, using dyes to explore the visual effects of colour and light as diffused through stained glass.

Bernie individually hand dyes her scarves using French steam fix Silk Dyes with a salt technique to produce an overall pattern, so every scarf created is unique. Once the dyes have dried onto the silk, the scarf is steamed to set the dyes. Any excess dye is washed out as much as possible, the scarf is then dried, aired and pressed. Finally, Bernie sign's the corner of each scarf with a discrete ‘B’.  

Each scarf is made with 100% pure silk so should be gently hand washed in cool to lukewarm water, using a tiny amount of non-biological clothes wash suitable for wool or silk. A small amount of excess dye may transfer from this scarf when wet so please wash separately. Rinse in cold to cool water and iron when damp on a silk setting.
