‘Whispers from Nature’ brings together glass artworks made by artist Surinder Warboys using her unique Muller technique. In these remarkable works Warboys uses the Muller, a tool used for grinding and mixing glass paint, as a mark-making tool. In this series of works dendritic marks and serendipitous patterns have been created through the action of the muller and the artist's pressure and motion upon this tool, sometimes over many hours. The resulting images created through these marks seem to reference the interior of bodies, their map of veins and capillaries, while simultaneously suggesting the cartography of terrain. Circular, enclosed forms can be indicative of a womb or a nest while also evoking an ammonite’s spiral and the swirl of the Milky Way. These works are enigmatic, not settling to a single representation, instead overlaying imagery suggestive of biology, geology and cosmology within the boundaries of a single glass pane.
