Callisto Moon - Screen Printed Glass

Screen printed Callisto moon, mounted in a freestanding oak frame.

James uses photo sensitive emulsion to transfer digital images onto silkscreens. A specialist glass enamel paint is then used to make a print on glass. Single images from multiple silkscreens can be layered on glass but James also uses Photoshop to prepare images for silkscreens. This software enables James to layer multiple images towards a single print and to isolate the tonal layers of single images. Collaging allows James to reinterpret the images he collects, revealing new meaning in their juxtaposition.
