Geometric Grisaille Magnet

This magnet features a design taken from our Museum collection. 

'Geometric Grisaille' is one of the oldest panels on display in our Museum Gallery, made in the early 13th century by an unknown English artist. This type of glazing - using mainly clear glass pieces to create a pattern - is associated with the Cistercian Church for whom the simplicity of design expressed a spiritual ideal. Grisaille was also used for architectural purposes, often glazing higher windows to allow more light in the building.
