Canon Jeff Hopewell explores how David Evans drew on existing artworks for his stained glass designs, a practice widely accepted in the late Georgian and early Victorian periods. More than 67 sources have been identified, ranging from celebrated masterpieces to lesser-known works spanning four centuries. The talk considers how these artworks were adapted for glass and what they reveal about Evans’s artistic methods and influences.
