Christmas Family Glass Fusing tealight holder

This ticket admits 1 participant to the workshop. Each member of the family wishing to make a fused glass decoration needs to book a ticket. Suitable for ages: 7+

Are you looking for something memorable to do with your child this October half term? In this unique session you and your child/children can work alongside each other to make a beautiful festive tealight holder, no need for parents to watch, you can create your own stunning piece too! Our friendly tutor will demonstrate how to cut the glass, and you can have a go yourself. Along the way will learn about the principles and theory of glass fusing and firing.  During this relaxed, session you will work on your design and then make a 10cm x 10cm glass piece by cutting and adding the stunning accessory glass available.  Don't worry, if cutting the glass is not your thing, there is plenty of pre-cut glass you can use, our main aim is that you enjoy the session and produce a glass ornament that can be enjoyed Christmas after Christmas!  

Your glass will need to be kiln-fired and the tealight holder attached after the workshop is finished so you will NOT be taking your glass home on the day of the session. Each firing takes 24hours. Once your fused artwork has been kiln-fired and cooled, we will contact you to let you know it is ready for collection. This will usually be within 10 days of completing the workshop and in plenty of time for Christmas!

Please note: The Museum is located on an upper level of the Grade-I listed medieval Ely Cathedral. The entrance to the museum is via a spiral stone staircase of 40 steps from the south-west transept of Ely Cathedral. The stairs are fitted with a handrail. Unfortunately, there is no lift access to the Museum. The toilets are quite a hike from the museum, situated near the Lady Chapel in the Cathedral, so it’s advised that young people go to the toilet before the session begins.
